POWDER COATING FAQ:
Powder coating has many variables in it’s pricing. Things that have to be considered are how well is the surface prepared, how much detail is involved in the items, and what powder is going to be used. All these things make the pricing vary greatly from project to project.
If the items to powder have to be sand blasted there is an additional charge for that. We have an excellent sandblasting team. The cost of blasting is $185 an hour.
We ususally can get your powder coating jobs done in a week. If we need to do sandblasting, it can take a bit longer.
Once the item has cooled from the baking process, it is good to go. The curing process is final once the item cools down to room temperature.
Powder coating must be done on bare metal. If you have items like patio furniture, railings, bumpers, or anything made out of metal that you would like redone, we will have to sand blast the item.
The process of powder coating does vary depending on the material being coated. All metals must be bare. If it is new metal, it can be treated with our washing process and etched with a chemical process in house. If the articles being powdered are already coated with a finish, they must be sandblasted for good adhesion of the powder. Once prepped, the parts are hung on our racks and warmed in the 450* oven to dry them from the rinsing process. Pieces are then sprayed with the powder of choice and returned to the oven for baking. Our 24′ deep X 10′ wide X 8′ high oven can accomodate a large amount of parts each batch.
